Time Trial – Saturday at Legg Lake

This is where the fun begins…

On Saturday, we get to see why we run endless miles, steep hill repeats, dusty trails and those insufferable loops around the Williams School playground.  That’s right – the first time trial of summer.  This time trial will provide a baseline for your performance and allow your coaches to evaluate your progress throughout the season.

All runners are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to attend – especially those planning on attending High Altitude Camp in Mammoth Lakes.
Here are the details:
  • Location – Legg Lake
  • Directions – 605 south to 60 east, exit Santa Anita Ave; turn left, go under freeway; parking lot is on your right
  • Runners report time – 8:00 am
  • Look for the GLENDORA E-Z-UP
  • TT start time (aka parent report time) – 8:30 am
What’s that?  You want to know if there’s anything you can do to help?  As a matter of fact, there is.  A few parents will be needed at strategic spots along the course to make sure our runners follow the right course (this isn’t track – wrong turns can happen).  You need to be able to point and yell encouragingly as the runners pass.  I know many of you and am quite sure we will have no problem finding loud people with fingers.  If you’re willing to help, find me when you arrive, I’ll be happy to give you an assignment.
Please come out to support these runners.  There is nothing better than the cheers and encouragement of your family and friends during a race.

Glendora Summer XC – Rolling!

Summer training for the 2011 Glendora Cross Country team has begun.  Nearly 100 athletes have taken part so far and we’re looking forward to a great Summer.  And… we have our first adjustment to the schedule.  Beginning on Monday, July  11 – all evening sessions will begin at 6:00pm and the weekly schedule will be:

  • Monday – Bonelli Park
  • Tuesday – Bonelli Park
  • Wednesday – Bonelli Park
  • Thursday – Williams School
  • Friday – GHS
  • Saturdays (7:00am) La Verne Trails

It is not too late to join the team, just come on out and start running.

Also, due to the potential size of the team and the intensity of the training, the coaches have put together some minimum requirements for participating in the Mammoth High-Altitude Training Camp (August 7-14th)  Varsity athletes must take part in 34 training sessions prior to the camp, while the rest of the team needs to attend 28.  Athletes missing sessions while on vacation may re-negotiate these numbers with the coaches.  Additionally, and new this year, athletes will need to achieve a relatively modest standard at our team time trial in late July.
