Mammoth Trip Meeting – August 5th

There will be a mandatory meeting for parents of athletes who will be attending our Mammoth Training Camp

When:  Tuesday, August 5th at 7:00pm

Where:  2011 E. Financial Way (off of Route 66 just east of Lone Hill), in Glendora

Each athlete must have at least one parent attend, and athletes are encouraged to attend as well.  Please bring medical insurance information so you can compete the required medical release at the meeting.  The meeting will cover the logistics of the trip, athlete expectations, and you’ll receive a list of what and what not to bring.

This is the beginning of a new website for the Glendora High School Boys Cross Country Team. You’ll find basic information below, but please keep checking back or subscribe to the site feed as we build the site. (If you are looking for information on the GHS Girls XC program – please go here)

Training Schedule

Summer training has already begun, but it is not to late to join the team. Just show up to any of the training sessions to get started. Here is our weekly schedule until school starts.

Monday: 5:00 pm at the Glendora High School Track

Tuesday: 5:00 pm at Williams Elementary School (on Lorraine just north of Route 66)

Wednesday: 5:00 pm at the GHS Track

Thursday: 5:00 pm at Bonelli Park in San Dimas (enter the park from the gate at Raging Waters Parkway – we meet at the near end of the first parking lot on the left. Park entry is $8, so you may want to be dropped off at the gate and walk the 250 meters to our gathering place)

Friday: 7:00 am at the GHS Track

Saturday: 7:00 am at several different sites

8/2: Mills Loop – this is a hilly loop at Claremont Wilderness Park. We meet at the park’s lower parking area located at the corner of Mills Rd and Mt. Baldy Rd. (Exit the 210 Freeway at Baseline. Go left (west) to Mills, turn right (north) to the parking lot.

8/9: Legg Lake - we do fast, flat training around Legg Lake in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in South El Monte. (Exit the 60 Freeway at Santa Anita. Go left (south) to the large parking lot just south of the freeway on your right. To get to our meeting spot, follow the path near the east end of the lot which heads directly south toward the lake. We gather at the end of that path near the lake)

8/23: Mills Loop in Claremont

8/30: Legg Lake. cf. new training schedule above

8/30: La Verne Trails – this is another site for hill training; we run the trails to he head of Marshall Canyon. We meet at Lowell Brandt Park at the corner of Golden Springs and Stephens Ranch Road in La Verne. (From Foothill or Baseline, go left (north) on Wheeler, turn right (east) to the park.

9/6: Legg Lake in South El Monte

Once school begins, weekday training will usually be at 3:00pm at the GHS track. We will post and distribute a schedule which will include other training sites and times in late August.

Don Sumner is our head coach and is in his thirteenth year at GHS. He is assisted by Ben Mejia (3rd year), Bob Ramsey (2nd year) and Katlyn Geiman (1st year).
